Hey Folks, The event this year will be held on Saturday April 28th from 10am until 2pm on Big Rideau Lake out of Rideau Ferry Harbour Marina. This will mark the 5th year that this fine facility has hosted the event for us. This year we are hoping to surpass the amount of participants. Our goal is to attract 75 kids and to raise $2000. So start spreading the word. If you plan on attending, please e-mail me or contact me via the webpage so that we know how many kids to expect. Looking forward to lots of smiling faces. Pete

Hey Folks, Prizes are starting to come in for this event. This is a great event for the kids and it is before walleye season opens, so I know most of you out there either have kids or know kids that you can bring to this event. With just over 1 month away things are coming together nicely. All we need is the kids to participate. If you plan on attending, please let me know so that we can make sure that we have enough prizes and food for the kids. Thanks, Pete www.peterlarmand.com/outdoors/childrens-charity

6th Annual Kid’s Charity Fishing Tournament in the Books. With the below seasonal weather that we have been having for over a week, weather was a concern for us for the this years event. Well, the fishing Gods were looking over us today with clear blue skys and 8 degrees C (46 degrees F). Over night the weather dropped to -2 C or 29 F. So, like all outdoor events weather played a major role in how this event would play out. Add fish to the mix and well you can imagine what the outcome was like. The fish did not want to come out to play like it has done in previous years. However, 48 young anglers came out and braved the cool morning air all in an attempt to catch enough fish to finish in the top 3 of their age group. This year we added a new prize for the anglers to fish for and that is a trophy for the angler that catches the most fish of the event. That honour goes to one of our anglers that has won his age group in previous years and has been with us for 4 years now, congratulations Jacob. Congratulations to all the winners. Pictures of the event are available at www.peterlarmand.com/outdoors/gallery/2012-kids-charity-tournamentThe prize table is what the kids were fishing for however, all of this would not be possible with the help of the following people and companies: George’s Marine and Sports Okuma Mustad Andress Independent Smiths Falls Big Jim McLaughlin’s Just Fishing Newspaper First Mate Lures Industrial Cleaning Supplies NAPFish Interenet Solutions Bennetts Bait and Tackle Oziles Paddletales Baitcasters Laurentian Marine Preston Hardware Tammy’s Nails Ogilvies Auto CMC Electronics Inc Also need to thank all of the volunteers that help make this event what it is. Robin, Jessica, Slyvia, Darrell, Dave, Alan, Eric, Skip, “Big” Jim. Thank you for all of your help. I ask that if you are in the market for any of the products or services that either of the the sponsors offer that you give the the opportunity to earn your business. Although the fish did not co operate, I still feel that the kids had a great time. Planning for the 2013 event will start next week and hopefully we can make it bigger and better. Lord willing we will do this again next year. Pete
