hey folks, I am always very desperate to start fishing in the spring...and I have a feeling I'm starting too late .Normally head to dow's lake around may 1st.....but wondering if anyone else starts for crappie before that....so when do you start your crappie fishing and where.. I didn't eat crappie last year....and i wont at dows lake....but they are becoming more and more dominant each year at black lake...and the cajun fish crisp needs some fish thanks, mike

YFF, We normally go out in mid April for crappie out on the Rideau River. You can catch lots right from shore. If you go back to the main webpage and look under outings, you will see some pictures of us and the kids catching crappie. You will notice the dates of April 17th and May 1st. That is usually when I go crappie fishing. They are excellent to eat. Garlic, onions, milk and rice krispies. Now you got me wanting some. Pete

Yff Just had a feed of fresh crappie, and got the ice auger sharp for this winter. For me it would be easier to say when don't I target them. July and August are the only months I really don't target Crappie. I'm to busy fishing Bass. Jeremy
