Most people when fishing a jerk bait will jerk the rod a few times then let the bait rest. Then repeat the process. This drives the bass (especially the smallmouth crazy). However, what most guys don't do is when the bass won't hit the bait is work it differently. Try moving the position/angle of the rod. Most guys position the rod pointing towards the water. Point it parallel to the water and if that doesn't work, hold the rod higher. Each angle gives the bait a different motion when it's being jerked. This just might be the difference that you need to catch that finicky bass. Pete
