Hello! Well, I just finished my first Stren tournament of the year on the Potomac River. I didn't do too well due to a poor first day, but the last two days I got the tide figured out and managed some decent limits. A little late. I had fun though, and I'm looking forward to the next event which is on Lake Erie/Detroit River/Lake St. Clair out of Detroit. Hopefully I'll fish a couple local tournaments before then. I'm anxious to see Pete's boat. Gary

Hey Gary,
Too bad it was a little too late. Although fishing rivers and tidal rivers at that can be a little tricky.
You seem to improve with every outing on that body of water. Did you run far or did you stay in that creek out of Smallwood State Park?
Pete
P.S. the boat is running well. Still breaking it in. got it up to 72 on GPS on Sunday on the Ottawa.

Glad to hear the boat is running well. My gear case went on me at the Potomac. Fortunately I was able to replace the whole lower unit for free with the on-hand Evinrude techs.
Yeah, days 2 and 3 I was quite happy with. I found a sweet spot on day 2 no bigger than my boat that I sat on all day, and another spot about the size of two boats that I sat on all day on day 3. The first spot was near the mouth of Aquia, and the second spot was in Pohick Bay. Next time I'm there, I'm going to try and master the thick mats. That's where the mules come from.

To bad about the gear case but good news about getting it replaced for free. That's one of the good benefits of having a titled sponsors product on your boat. Aquia is a great spot, do you know if anything came out of the spoils in Washington?? Good luck on the Detroit River /Erie/ St. Clair tournament. Pete

I don't think much came from there. The leaders were all flipping heavy mats. The winner, Bobby Lane, was fishing heavy mats on the main river. I didn't hear to much about anyone going way up north. In fact I hear the fishing's been off up there, but getting better again.

I can see why it's die off so much. That particular spot receives lots of fishing pressure. Not just from the locals but tournament anglers as well. The area is not very big to begin with. Pete
