Why do a lot of Bass clubs not allow fly fishing? Don't tell me safety! Have you ever had a 1oz jig come flying at you, I have. As a fly fisherman myself this does not seem fair? What do you think? Jeremy

I am not a fly fisherman but I don't see what the matter is it's still an artificial bait and it's still being used with a rod and reel. So I would say go ahead and use a fly rod. Pete

Jeremy, Does fly fishing mean not with a fly rod??? I just read an article that some tournament anglers are using the drop shot rig with a fly. Can you use that?? I don't believe that's against the rules. Pete

Pete Yes, I can use a fly its just not the same putting it on a spinning rod. it changes the presentation. Oh well just wanted to see what others thought! No fly fisherman to support my thoughts I will just have to keep using my spinning /Baitcasting rods on White Lake. Jeremy

LOL I just checked back to see what I missed. I don't think i'll ever fish a torunament "I'll get wupped" but i'm not sure why flyfishing is not allowed. Its not any harder on the fish and it's not a great advantage.
Jeremy:I flyfished on white lake this summer....awesome topwater action!!! caught 11 most were clones "1 lb 8oz" but I caught one nice one that was 2 lbs 7 oz. I was using a deer-hair popper-slider deer hair frog at night over deep weeds.

Yff Try a mohair leech (2/0) and hold on, Sink tip line or full sinking line if you want success. Caught a 4.5 pound smallmouth and several 3lb largemouth. Fish black or why even bother. (Just my opinion ) There is a huge advantage to using a fly rod but thats another article I'm hoping to write Fish on, Jeremy
