Hey Folks,
This past weekend I was at an event that you don't hear about much any more. A Family Fun Fishing Tournament. Basically put, a customer appreciation tournament.
George's Marine and Sports puts on this event annual now for the past 13 years. The location was on beautiful Golden Lake at the Golden Sands Resort and Restaurant.
It's not very often that I can go out fishing and just have fun without having to deal with the pressure of tournament fishing. Usually during the summer, I become a stranger to my family until the season is over. This event is something that I can do with my family with no pressure. Not only did I enjoy it but I have to tell you a little more about my daughter Jessica. The only time that she ever wants to go out fishing is when the crappie are bitting. She will fish for about 2 hours at the most then she loses interest. On Sunday we brought her Nintendo DS and books for her to do in case she got bored. She asked around 1:00 is she could play with her DS. I said sure, go ahead and take a break, no problem. Just as she places her rod on the front deck, I catch a bass.
She gets all excited and says to me that she can play it on the way home. She picks up her rod and asks to use the same bait that I have tied on and she casts again. That completely floored me. As far as I'm concerned all of the successes that I have achieved so far in fishing can not add up to the excitement she showed after winning the kids
division. All the way home she kept asking me " Daddy have you ever won a CD player??" When she called my wife to tell her she could hardly contain herself she was so excited. For that I have to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. She is already making
plans for next season.
This is the kind of stuff that not every dealership does. Everyone that participated received a prize package irregardless if you caught a fish or not. As far as I'm concerned that is a first class operation that they run there and I hope to be involved with them for many years to come.
