Wow what a week end!
Took the boys out on the Rideau River on Sat and Sunday afternoon.
Saturday we caught about 20bass on drop shot Senko's (3") on outside weed edges in 15feet of water, biggest about 4 1/2lbs.
Went back on Sunday to try agian and caught a limit of 2 1/2 lb walleye on 5 inch June bug Senko's.
This bait never stops amazing me ;D

Jeremy,
Yes, senko type baits are amazing. Very versatile and work in any condition.
Going to have to try your tactics next time I'm on the Rideau.

Speaking of weird walleye baits, I caught over a dozen under a dock just outside of the Nepean Sailing Club on the Ottawa River, on a green watermelon Baby Brush Hog in a span of about 20 minutes. They ranged from a pound to a couple pounds. Perfect eating size, though I let them all go.
I just thought it was weird that I'd bang into walleye with that setup. Sometimes the fish just need to be feeding and you can throw them whatever you want. Then, I end up finding neatpage.com - which is the Dr.'s page is it not? - and he said on there that the walleye in that stretch of the Ottawa River don't behave like normal walleye. Looks like he knows what he's talking about.
Caught some fantastic smallmouth under that dock as well.

Gary, No, neatpage belongs to another user on this site. His name is Marc, (I forget his last name). He's a good friend of my partner Darrell. Thought you would have kept them but then I realized it was the Ottawa River... Pete

Pete,
I thought about keeping them, but I wasn't sure about the eating quality of them. However, as a matter of interest, I picked up the Ontario Guide to Eating Sportfish from the Ministry and it says one could eat up to eight meals a month out of that stretch of the Ottawa River - of smaller walleye. A meal is an eight ounce serving.
