Lake Trout Opener

Hey Folks,

I know we mostly discuss bass fishing on this site but tomorrow June 2md is the opener of lake trout on the Big Rideau. Just wondering if anybody fishes for lakers?

I used to fish it many years ago with my Dad. We would troll for hours and hours catching lake trout. Although I haven't fished it in a long time, I think that this year I might go out and try and get some.

Anyone else fishing for them? If so, any pointers for this bass guy?

Hey Pete,
Ya stick with Bass Just joking

Go to turnip Island find about 70ft and vertical Jig with a one oz tube jig or grub . White is best or use a bucktail and a minnow.

Or try one of those fancy drop shot rigs it will give you some practice for the summer

If i lived where you live you could not keep me away from the lake trout. Maybe we could get out before the bass season starts ?

Oh, and yes I do fish them! Not as much as I would like to though

Don't worry Jeremy, if I fish for trout as well as I fish for bass You'll have nothing to worry about.

Once I get my boat, we'll have to get out and you show me these trout spots.
