hey all,
I'm fishing the chateauguay and ausable rivers on the way down to New York City. I'm hoping for some dry-fly action, but I'll be bringing the streamer and nymph boxes just in case!
Can't seem to find the bass lately:(

Hey YFF Thought now your on the canadian flyfishing team you had forgotten who we are If you are heading to the Ausable do not forget the trico's 22 to 26 and the mahogany's 16 and 18. Blue Winged Olive's 20. Ausable wulff's always work in the pocket water. Try a size 12 or 14 floating muddler clip the head really tight. Under the water try small stone flies 10 and 12. try tying up the body using herl (little secret I do) Have a good time there are always some bruts to catch this time of year. Wish I could go don't have time to many things to do. Hope to go to Pulaski this coming January chest waders and egg flies ;D God Bless, Jeremy

Hi All!
I'm in the US on business and will be here for another week (Harrisburg, PA) so this weekend I plan on fishing either the Potomac River or Lake Wallenpaupack up near Scranton, PA. I'm hoping to be in Ottawa the week after next to hit some of my favourite lakes.

Thought now your on the canadian flyfishing team you had forgotten who we are Nahh... I just havent been posting on message boards much lately. Not too sure why, but I have still been reading a lot. I will report more once the ice fishing season comes ;D I did have an awesome day on the chateaugay on the 14th. I only caught 5 fish on the day but it was still a great day in my mind. I caught 2 stocker rainbows, 2 brookies and one brown trout. I also had a 6 inch wild brookie flip off my wulff before I got it to my hand. The Brown was a PB at 22 inches ;D . Like you said, it was a size 8 woodchuck stonefly nymph(BH.) The spot on the Chateauguay is only 1hr45 mins from ottawa, if anybody would like to know the spot Pm me and I'll be happy to share. mike

Gary, If you hit the Potomac, let me know how you make out. BASS is having a regional event on the Potomac at the end of the moth. It would be nice to here how the river is fishing. Pete

The fishing was actually a lot better than I had anticipated. I caught 2 rainbows on the chateauguay in a 1 hour fish on a size 12 ausable wulff. One was small around 8 inches and the other one mesured at 12.5 inches. 3 of my friends went fishing today and yesterday. 2 days and only caught 3 small rainbows in 12 hours of fishing so I guess I got pretty lucky!
Yesterday I went to the west branch of the ausable for a quick fish on my favourite pool. Last summer I caught a 20 incher there but this time I only got one bite on a muskrat nymph(size 8) and after a short fight the barbless hook slid out. Oh well I'm glad I got to fish the Ausable this year, and I will be there a lot next year since my brother will have his driving liscense.

Pete,
I ended up not going to the Potomac, but made it up to Ottawa instead. I was planning to go next week, as I mentioned, but my work schedule changed so I got up early to spend some Thanksgiving time with my family and do some fishing.
I was out on the Rideau last Saturday while the SEBO event was on. I didn't realize it was the SEBO event, thinking it would be on a Sunday, until I swung by the 4PM check-in and talked to a guy who was waiting to trailer out. I would have went up to the weigh-in stage to check things out, but there was no where for me to dock or beach the boat, so I just went back to fishing. I didn't catch squat that day, and apparently neither did quite a few guys in the tournament. Looked like a tough day for all. Were you there? I was looking for your boat on the water.
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday I spent on White Lake and had great fishing. They were slow on the senko type baits, which was unusual, but I cracked 'em all three days on perch coloured crankbaits. Had a lot of fun.

Hey Gary, Glad you got to spend some time with your family. As a matter of fact I did fish the SEBO tournament that Saturday. I was fishing with Stephen Olthof and we were fishing out of his boat. That's why you didn't see my boat out there. It was a tough day. We never caught our first keeper until 2:00 and we caught our 5th fish at 3:50. 10 minutes before weight in. We ended up with the 2nd largest fish for the day at 3.57 (I believe ) and we finished 7th. It was nice to receive a pay cheque on that last tournament of the season. Too bad you didn't come up on shore. It would have been nice to see you again. We never caught anything on horizontal baits that weekend. We caught them on Senko type baits and some eager beavers. Glad to hear that you had a good 3 days on White Lake. On was the water level? Are you doing any of the second chance tournaments for either BFL or Stren? Pete
