Hey Folks, Well, it's just about that time once again where we start putting away the boat and the fishing gear and bring out the ice fishing stuff and all the other winter equipment. However, if you can still get out, the fall has some of your best fishing action of the season. Large smallmouth and huge largemouth are getting ready to strap on a feed bag before the weather gets colder and the ice starts. If you can get out and enjoy the fall fishing time. You will be glad that you did. Is there anyone still fishing and if so, where do you go for some great action? I personally like the Big Rideau this time of year. Also, the Rideau River near Kemptville. What about your favourite place in the fall.....other than hunting. Pete

Heck, we still got a couple months of prime fishing time left, and you're right Pete, this is the best time of year to get lots and lots of big fish. I like White Lake. The numbers you can catch anytime of year on that lake are good, but in the fall it's almost stupid how many you can get...and the big one's come out to play. October is phenomenal for non-stop action, literally. You can actually get bored catching bass at this time of year on White Lake...and many other lakes as well. Pete, where do you go around Kemptville? I've been on the Rideau four or five times this summer and have had a heck of a time catching bass. I've tried the weeds, the weedlines, docks...everything I can think of and the river just doesn't want to give anything up for me. I'm in the Kemptivlle area of that river quite often so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. But as Pete says, don't put your boat away just yet. The best fishing of the season is upon us and you don't want to miss out. Gary

Gary Gary! I can never get bored with catching any fish, it better than work ;D I really like to get out on the Rideau also Pete any section from Big Rideau right down to the Ottawa river. This time of year I also like to go down to the Great Lakes and play with some of the Big Salmon and Steelhead that come into the River. We will head to Picton for the walleye from shore also huge fish up to 15lbs. (If I get a chance?) I will get out for Muskie with the fly rod hopefully at least6 times. I fish till the ice keeps me off the river, Ive been know to break some ice with the bow of the boat to get to a favorite spot Then sometime around the Second week of January I put on the waders and head down to Pulaski and fly fish for some monster Steelhead. Why fish on ice when you have open water to stand in ;D ;D All the best, Jeremy

Hey Gary, The Kemptville creek is pretty good as well as the weed line near the mouth are good producers. As you and Jeremy already mentioned, there are still a couple of months left to fish before the ice go out and enjoy it if you can. Pete
