:-*Hi everyone I am new to this board, I am a 32 year female living in Ottawa who LOVES fishing. My husband also fishes in tournaments here in Ottawa. I have a question ( suggestion) that I would like to get anyone's input if possible. I do know for a fact that there is NO Fun fishing tournaments here in Ottawa, where Woman's teams verses Men's teams. I think it would be lot's of fun to hold a tournament for woman who compete against the men. As I said my husband fishes tournaments so all you ladies know we have to stay home with the kids. So wouldn't it be fun if us Ladies could Beat you men in a fun tournament. Ha ha ha . (just kidding) For example everyone could put in a low fee of $10.00 per person to fish, and what is raised be put in for the top 3 winner's. And with a barbecue to follow. And if everyone who enters brings in a dish, it would be great. Not only is it a competition but a Fun Day, and hopefully Us Woman will Win...... Thanks all! Crazym

Hi there crazym32.
Just so you know there are lots of women that fish tourny. My wife is 31 she fishes about 4-5 tournies a year and we have lots of fun and we do quite well to.
there are several husband wife teams in all the seboa which are open tournies.
But the idea of you women against us men would be welcomed by myself and many other men as well. send a pic of your boat when you buy one. Just kiddddding
See you on the water

Hey Crazym, Welcome to the board. That would be very interesting. As Andy mentioned there are lots of husband /wife teams out there. My wife fish tournaments as often as possible. What series does your husband fish? We might have to put something together. Do you think you can come up with a handful of women?? Once again, welcome to the board and I look forward to hearing more from you. Pete

:)Hello everyone, Thanks so much for everyone who has read this and replyed. Yes, Andy I do know there are husband and wife teams. I have never fished a tournament with my husband or by myself. But i have been out fishing in the boat a lot of times. Peter thank you for welcoming me to the club. My husband whom you know fishes Bass Angler's Association. My name is marleen (nickname) is crazym32 . My husband is Brian. I am glad to know there are some people who thought it would be a good idea. Like i said it would be the woman verses the Men,,,, AS FUN fishing. I could get some woman, but again with all you men who have wives, then the woman would just team up together. Not only is the husband and wives together, but it would be a competition against each other. Just an idea. Would this be possible to put together??? Again Thanks to all who have replied.

Marleen, This is a great idea! Jeremy, Lynn and I could fish out of a row boat and would still beat you guys! ;D I think this would be a good idea to do and could take place in the fall, after all the other tournaments are finished You know these guys....anything to do with fishing and they are there! I do believe a husband and wife team would be better as it is the norm that if the husband is fishing....the wives will be fishing from shore cause they have no boat to go out in. Maybe we should make the husbands fish from shore and we will have a better chance! ;D Well so far we would have three teams for sure that would like to do this, team Parker, team Larmand and team Garneau. Anyone else out there that would like to take part?? Kim ;D

I like both ideas. Let's combine the 2 ideas. Let me know what you think have a husband/boyfriend and wife/girlfriend (but you can't bring both) Team event with a 4 fish limit. However, the fish that the girls catch counts towards their weight and the fish the lads catch is their weight. We can have 3 separate divisions (sort of speak) Mens, womens and team. I think that this could be pretty interesting and it would be fun. What do you all think?? Pete

Hello everyone, Again I want to say I definately should have joined this message board a long time ago. I truly appreciate all the positive replies to my suggestion. It all sounds good, the fall time to do this tournament or fun fishing thing sounds great. I truly do hope that it does go through, because personally I think it would be really Fun!! Now! One thing though I need to suck-hole to my hubby (Brian) to use some of his Fishing rods. The sad thing is...... I have beat him just fun fishing, so I definately don't think he'll lend me any now!!! (just kidding) Ps... Kim ,,, again Hope you had a wonderful Birthday!!!!

Hey Andy, I thought the boat was Char's Joking. Hey crazym32. I'm sure Brian will let you use some of his rods.....just not sure if there will be any line on them though You could always ask Bob. Apparently Bob is the one that carries that team anyway!!! Just teasing Brian. Perhaps we should plan this for the weekend after the classic in September. Everyone's thought!!! Pete P.S I'm glad that you joined the board. The more people that participate in this the better it is for everyone.

Hi all: Sounds like a battle royale (of the sexes) in the making. I don't know if my wife would fish in a tourney (she shakes her head and mutters unintelligibly whenever I sort my lures and tackle) but you never know. Pete, we're running our charity derby (all welcome-I'll send out the form to this site shortly) for the oncology ward at CHEO on the week-end after the classic. It's usually the second week-end of Sept. but I've moved it so I can fish two week-ends in a row . By all means, do your thing, but I'd like to see many of you guys at Norway Lake on the 16th of September. Andy promises to do better this year now that he has a working motor. Cheers, Steve C.

Hi Steve, I'm sorry I didn't remember the dates for that event. We can hold the "Battle O Sexes" on the 23rd of September then. We can either hold it out of Waba but if the water is too low then I suggest we hold it out of town launch in Portland pm the Big Rideau. Pete
