Hi All! Walleye and Pike season is fast approaching, opening in a week in some areas and a couple weeks in most others. Walleye are great to eat, but personally, I find them real boring to catch. I love the scrappy pike though. Anybody plan on getting out for these species? Now that I've got a boat, I'm open to suggestions as to different places I can find some good pike fishing around the Ottawa area. I know it isn't hard to find decent pike waters, typically, but does anyone know of some "special" spots? You know, where they might get a bit bigger and a bit nastier. ;D Cheers! Gary

Hey Gary, For me the Rideau River is always a good place to go for some pike. If you are going for walleye, Mississippi Lake is also a good place to go. Give those places a try and you should be able to catch a few anyways. Pete

Hey Gary, For Pike there is this little out of the way lake Constance Lake on dunrobin side road great for Pike. Also I would Vote for Mississippi for Pike it has some great spots just off the old rice beds stay in the open though. I normally throw Bunny leechs (10") on a fly rod for them along with Mega divers and lefty decievers. Hope this helps? , have fun and maybe you will run into me watch for the fool with the fly rod standing on a milk crate in the front of a 14 foot aluminim boat. ;D Later, Jeremy
