Hey YFF, Fishing in Florida... I'm envious. Nice looking snook. Did you go down for the March break? Start a new thread and tell us about your trip. Cognratulations on your first crappie through the ice. Unfortunately yes, the bass is OOS. Still it must have been fun tangling with that through the ice as well. Looking forward to hearing about your Florida trip. Pete

Howdy, I've been boat shopping and finally got one. I ended up getting a new Stratos 200 ProXL Team Stratos Edition, Minn Kota trolling motor, Evinrude E-Tec 225 HO, Lowrance LMS-332c GPS at console and bow. I'm VERY pumped!! haven't slept since financing was confirmed. I got it through G&G Lalonde in Orleans, whom I hadn't heard anything about, but I liked dealing with them. I was initially looking at a 201, but the 200 was in stock, is only 7 inches shorter, and I would have had to pay about $10000 more to order a 201. I don't think seven inches will make much of a difference on Erie. I was interested in Ranger as well, but I didn't get the financing deal I would have liked with them, so I went with Stratos. I'm looking forward to a good summer with it...it should be a speed demon at the very least. They tell me at the marina it will do over 80MPH. Yikes! Gary PS: Hey Jeremy, good to "see" you. How you folks doing? You've been in my thoughts...

Hey Gary, Congratulations on the new boat. You'll have to post some pictures of it in the "show me yours" section of the message board. So does that mean that you are going to switch to the boater side of botht he BFL and the Stren series this summer? Are you going to fish anything up here as far a tournaments go?? I hope to see you out on the water this summer. Pete

Pete, Thanks. Yeah, I'm looking into switching to the boater side for both the BFL and the Stren series' this summer. I've already been confirmed as a co-angler for all these events, but I'm sure it won't be a problem switching, provided they have spots available on the boater side. I've got messages in to the appropriate people and am just waiting to hear back. I will definitely fish some local stuff around Ottawa as well. With the Strens and BFLs and work, I'll be pretty busy, but my fiance and I plan to fish a few SEBOs at the very least. In fact, we have committed to go to the SEBO season opener on White Lake, June 25th. Your club's opener is on the 24th at Mississippi right? We will definitely have to get out. Maybe I can come out to your lake and you can show me around. What have you decided for a boat? Going to wait another year? Gary

Gary, I don't imagine that you will have a hard time switching to the boater side of the BFLs but you might on the Stren series. Don't they usually fill up pretty fast? That's good that you will try to fish some SEBOs. I won't be able to fish the SEBO opener. I'll be on Cayuga Lake that weekend. I'm not fishing BAA this year. I've committed to fishing BASS and Renegade. I might do some SEBO's if time permits. As for a new boat, I'll be making my decision before the end of the month.as to whether or not I get one this season of next. It would be my pleasure to show you and your fiance (sorry I don't remember her name)around the Big Rideau. Once again congratulations to you both on the new boat. Pete

Pete,
Oh, you're doing Renegade this year?? That'll be cool. I hear it's a good organization that runs quality tournaments. I'm sure BAA is going to miss you though.
Hey, do you have any recommendations for boat insurance? Are you happy with who you're with and are you insured to fish in the US, and tournaments and all that? I've been talking with a few different providers and it seems to be ridiculously expensive. Any suggestions?
Gary

Yes Gary, very excited about fishing Renegade this year. They are the largest torunament series in Eastern Ontario. Some really good anglers on this circuit. 5 tournaments and I think it will take about 60 lbs to make the classic. Can't wait. As for insurance, we have a policy through our house insurance. They know that I fish tournaments and in the US as well. The company is called Pilot Insurance. Let me know if you want their number. Pete
