I just found out that Cabela's is opening up a store in Montreal at lac mirabel and should be open for late fall 2007 or spring 2008.

Brian, That's great news. Although, I have never been to Cabela's, from what I've been told it's bigger that BPS?? If that is the case, then WOW!! A few years ago I hear a rumour that Cabela's was looking at buying out Le Baron's. I guess that was just a rumour. Pete

Hi,
Cabela's stores are a bit bigger than BPS, it seems, and along the same lines as BPS in regards to having mounted animals, aquariums, and all the neat interior stuff, but for some reason isn't as nice of an experience to go to. Don't get me wrong...great store, lots of stuff to buy, and fun to visit, but BPS has an atmosphere, or ambience, that Cabela's doesn't have. You know, that comfy, outdoorsy, log cabin feel. Cabela's feels more like a big store. That's just my opinion...
However, it's great that they're coming to Canada. Let's hope that both them and BPS expand a bit in our great nation...instead of just having one store like they do now. Ottawa's a huge fishing area, you'd think they'd move into the area as well.

Ya Gary, have to sort of agree with you, but Cabela's seems more Hunting & Camping . They Carry Huge lines of hunting stuff and they are my go to store for price over others ;D they don't seem as focused on fishing(Walleye more then Bass) Cabela's should do good in Quebec, very hunter/camping outfitter oriented> Jeremy

Brian, I didn't realize that Gander Mountain is owned by Cabela's?? I have been in the Gander Mountain that you speak of and I wasn't impress. At least not with that location. I have been to the one just before Syracuse and it is a lot better than the one in Watertown. Just my opinion mind you. That is great news about what Cabela's is going to do. However, if they are more of a hunting and camping store than fishing, then I would have to agree with Jeremy and say that Montreal is a great place for them to be. Pete

I don't believe Gander Mountain is owned by Cabela's. I could be wrong... Gander Mountain is a standard fishing/hunting/camping store. Not much more than LeBaron's. Good prices, but nowhere near the experience that BPS or Cabela's is. It's true that Cabela's has a lot of hunting and camping stuff, but they still have a fine fishing selection. Almost as much as BPS...almost. Gary

HEY GUYS! We travel to P.A. every year to deer hunt and we go to the cabelas in hamburg, it is the biggest cabelas yet at 280,000 square ft. of show room, The 60 ft mountain in the middle of the store with a full size float plane hanging from the cielling above it and full of full body mount of everything is some impressive. But even a store that big can get very full and thats whats not very fun about it. I have about forty pics of the store and all the mounts in white tail canyon, with all the old and new world records if anyone ever wants to see. Canada really needs a good spot to go to for all your needs because they do have every thing you could ever want and they have in stock!
