Kim and I went to the Ottawa Boat, Sportsmen and Cottage show yesterday. We had a good time. We ran into JP at the Voyageur Depot booth and we also ran into Tony at the Laurnetian Marine booth. We want to thank Tony for taking the time to introducing us to a lot of people. We had a great time. Thanks again Tony
I know that everyone says that the Ottawa show has gone down hill and I would have to agree with them on that. I can remember years ago when I was going to the shows with my Dad (RIP) that there were more booths of fishing tackle and there were more corporate booths there as well. Now not so much. I think that it's because back then it was called the Ottawa Boat and fishing show. Now the show takes on a more boat and anything to do with summer concept. I think that they have stopped emphasizing on the fishing aspect of the show. Granted there are still some tackle retailers that attended but even their booths are a lot smaller than in years past.
I thought that the Ottawa boat show was good. There was an enormous amoount of boats to choose from. Ranging from 16 ft fishing packages to the (I can't afford to even look at, sell my first born) cabin cruisers and everything in between.
If there was something that I feel the marinas can improve on would be to bring in the odd 14 ft aluminum with the 9.9 to the shows. You never know, you just might sell a pile of them.
As for a fishing show, thank god we have the Carp show. The weekend of April 8th to the 10th. This is where all of the fishermen and the tackle shops come out and strut their stuff.
All in all, we had a great time and now looking forward to the Carp show. I know that Kim was happy because I didn't spend too much money....that's alright honey I'll more than make up for it at the Carp show.
