Hi Folks! Long time no "see". I've been busy the last couple years getting a business off the ground so that I can make money to fish. It's going well and this year, though I'm still very busy working and traveling with that business, I want to be more involved with the fishing scene, provide my share of information to those who love to fish, and of course, get on the water a whole lot more. Since much of my fishing is now scattered throughout Southeastern Ontario, New York, and PA I've started a blog sharing information on fishing in general in those areas. The idea is that anglers in these areas travel within those areas a lot, and share some of the best fishing resources on the continent so I thought I'd try and gather as much useful info as possible and create a resource that can be used to share that info for those that may be interested. It's in the beginning stages but I'm having fun with it. Pete, I hope you don't mind but I've posted some information on your children's charity tournament. That's a great event and should get as much exposure as possible. You can check it out at www.northlandangler.com. If you find anything wrong with the info, let me know and I'll change it. By the way, if the link doesn't appear to work, give it a day or so, the domain name was just registered today and may take a little time to propagate throughout the Internet. I hope to see much more of the whole fishing group this year than in the last couple. I've missed the friendships that fishing can help nurture. Hope you all have a great season and talk to you soon! Gary

Hey Folks, Things are progressing well as far as prizes and sponsors for our Kids Event. Most of the companies have rejoined our cause to bring the kids outdoors and introduce them to fishing. Companies like Paddletales out of Winchester, Dave Mercer's Facts of Fishing, Canadian Sport Fishing, Baitcasters out of Carleton Place. This year we have a new company that climbed onboard with us and they are out of Michigan. Hawghunter baits... Great custom plastics company. Check them out at hawghunterbaits.net/ This just goes to prove that great companies like the ones mentioned above want to get involved with our great event. Not just local events but not International companies. Let's get the kids out to this event and continue to make it grow. April 30th......see you all there. Pete

The 5th Annual Kids Fishing Tournament for CHEO is officially in the books and what an event it was. The weather co-operated with us on Saturday with sunny clear blue sky and a gentle breeze. The fish didn’t disappoint neither once the water warmed up after lunch they really started turning on. This year we had set ourselves a goal of 50 kids participating and $1000. Well I am very pleased to announce that we broke both of our goals. We had 60 kids participate ranging from ages 2 to 14 years of age. The other incredible news is we raised $1,325 for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. The kids had a great time and boy can they eat. We went through 120 hot dogs, 10 cases of juice boxes and 6 large bags of chips. But once again they couldn’t wait to get back out on the docks for more of that fishing action. I have asked some of the kids to give me their opinions (in their own words) what they think of this event and what it means to them. Once I get those comments I will be posting them on my website at www.peterlarmand.com Once again this year we broke the kids into age groups and the winners are as follows: 5 and under: Nick with 48 6-8 years of age: Nathan with 26 9-12 years of age: Taylor with 63 (most of the event) 13 and up: Gabe with 29 Something else that we did this year for some more added fun was after the event we had the parents participate in a 10 minute fish off. The parents has 10 minutes to see who would catch the largest amount of fish. The winner is: Cathy with 11 Although this event was a lot of work and it was the most successful one yet, it wouldn’t be possible the efforts of the amazing people that volunteered their time on Saturday to help out and they are: Jessica: assistant event co-ordinator, prize organizer, dock hand (to the kids), setup/tear down Josee: registration and food prep Claudette: food prep Katrina (new radio star): chef extraordinaire, prize bag artist and new friend Andrew (jealous of new radio star): emergency response, dock hand, setup/tear down Steve: score keeper, setup/tear down Tara: score keeper Troy: score keeper, ticket seller, setup/tear down Jeremy: dock hand, bait Greg: dock hand Darrell: dock hand As always this year was no exception every child walked away with a prize regardless of how many fish they caught and that wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from the following sponsors: George’s Marine and Sports Okuma Mustad Northam Fishing Tackle Fish-Hawk.net Auto Dentist MASS Electronics Paddletales Oziles Bennetts Bait and Tackle Big Jim McLaughlin Esterline CMC Electronics Rideau Ferry Harbour Marina Bits and Baits Baitcasters Myers Automotive Group Western Signs Duntech Auto Laurentian Marine If you are in the market for any of the products or services that these fine companies offer, I ask that you give them the opportunity to earn your business. I am not sure how we are going to top this for next year but we will work hard and do our best to try and improve and make it even bigger and better next year. Watch the website www.peterlarmand.com and make sure you look us up Peter Larmand Outdoors on facebook and click “like” on our page for information on this event and all other things fishing. Lord willing we will see everyone next year.
