Was out on White Lake yesterday. Caught at least 25-30 bass. Most of them were, as Pete puts it, "clones", but a few nicer ones came in the boat as well. They were whacking Senkos like there was no food in the lake. There were times I was getting them on every cast. I was fishing them weightless and they were hitting them either Texas-rigged or whacky style. It was bright, sunny, and hot, but the darker colours seemed to work best. Black, black/blue, and black/purple did well. Junebug was particularly productive. They seemed to be mostly coming from 8-12 feet of water and the south end was much more productive then the north end. Fish Creek, Stewart's Island, and the like didn't produce like they normally do, but Three Mile Bay and other areas down that way produced well.
The day before, I was out on Muskrat Lake. I couldn't get much largemouth action going there, but the smallmouth were biting pretty good. I was getting them on the north shore, of course, but the best spots seemed to be along any cliff wall. They were in 15 feet or a little deeper and were hitting drop shot Poor Boy's gobies, using 1/8th ounce weights. They were hanging on fairly sharp drop offs, as opposed to more gradual drops - guess that's why the cliff walls were producing. The pike were biting well also. Got most of them on a Mepp's Aglia Long #4 in the south shore weeds in about 5 feet of water.

Hey Gary, It sounds like you are having a great time this season. Yes White Lake is full of "clones" that's for sure. I am looking forward to going there for BAA as well as SEBO at the beginning of September. Muskrat is also a nice lake. Although I have only fished it a couple of times, it's diverse structure and cover make it a great lake for both small and largemouth. Gary, I hope that we can get together some time this year before it's all over with. Take care and say hi to the wife for me. Pete
