The family and I went out with Grumpy for some crappie today out on the Rideau River. We met up with Jeremy along with Josh and Kaleb. Fishing was pretty good. It seemed that that the crappie were gathered around a piece of structure and if you could get your bait in there you would catch them. Unfortunately, I wasn't holding the hot hand today. Jeremy and the boys seem to have that location pretty well under control and brought in the majority of the crappie today. Way to go Boys All in all it was a good day. Got to go out with the familiy and spend some time with a couple of good friends. Pete I can't wait for bass season.

Pete, Maybe next time you should stand with Josh and Kaleb and they can hook the fish and you can reel them in for them. ;D Just a suggestion. This way you can take notes on how to catch fish instead of trees. ;D But seriously we did have a great time with everyone and it is nice to be able to laugh and joke with your friends! Thanks everyone! Kim

Even though I did not catch a fish, just being out with all of you especially the Kids just does not get any better. Pete, I cannot believe that Jeremy smoked you that bad but at least he did not tease you about your Crappie catching ability now did he ? Kim do you realize that your husband wanted me to swear that he actually caught some Crappie on the other side of the bridge All in all I had a great time Sure hope we can do it again real soon Would like to organize something at my place invite all the members of BAA and any of their children, grandchildren and friends of BAA have a little BBQ and a lot of fishing from shore lots of perch blue gill for the wee ones to catch what say all of you. Hi gang! Went crappie fishing last evening in my fav' spot caught a lot of small crappie and about a dozen keepers. (breakfast) With the weather change that is coming we should try and get a group outing the crappie fishing should heat up(Pardon the pun). There is warm weather coming and I believe this should turn on the crappie. Can't go this week-end as its mothers day and the boys have plans with there mother and I'm the driver. And we are going to Grandma's house also. Good luck to anyone that is fishing should be good Jeremy

Well Gang I'm officially ended at my crappie spot. I cast under the bridge and caught a 4lb largemouth. Wonder why the crappies were not biting Thought this was a fluke so made a few more casts caught a second largemouth about 5lb saw two others when this happened told the boys we had to go. Please stay away from here the bass are getting ready to spawn the water is just about 60 so the time is coming close. We don't want to disturb our favorite fish from its spawning beds. I'll be fishing walleye this time next week with the dew worms and golden shiners we(the boys) and I have caught. Won't be fishing Bass like some people Jeremy

Jeremy, That's good news about the bass starting their spawning. So the first wave of them has started....that's a good thing. When opening day arrives, the spawn will be completely over and the bass (some of them) will be in a post spawn pattern. The earlier spawners will be starting to migrate out and the summer pattern will kick in. Unfortunately, the crappie have moved out. I still believe however, that the majority of the crappie spawning is still taking place. It should be in high gear right now. With this few days of warm weather days and not so cool over night temperatures the crappie should be pulling in at all the local spots. I haven't hit the culvert this week but have seen guys there every night after work. Unfortunately, I won't be crappie fishing now until I return. Hopefully, they are still running at that time. If not.....no worries, I would have already been bass fishing. Sorry Jeremy, just had to rub that in. ;D Pete
