Boat control is probably one of the biggest factors as to why anglers have have a bad day on the water. This is especially true in clear water or fishing in shallow water. In clear water try to keep the sun (if applicable) in front of you. This way the shadow will not spoke the bass. Shallow water fishing is usually a bay or cove, what you want to do is start fishing your way into the bay. This way you are coming in with your trolling motor and the bass may not be so skidish. In bass fishing, or fishing in general we are faced with numerous variables during a day that you really want to try and control the ones that you can. Boat control is a variable that we can control. Hopefully, this tip will help you put more fish in the boat. Pete

This is so true one thing I would add is that I know bass will use shadows just like cover when your fishing rock structure and clear water. They will sit right in the shadow and actually follow the shadow as the day progresses.

That's great advice. If I may add to that, be aware of your appearance to the fish as you approach the area with your trolling motor. Wear clothing that will blend in with the sky from the bass's viewpoint. You can get a lot closer without turning'em off.
