I wish that there was something that can be done to garage owners that like to screw people over. I know what I would like to do to them but I would be the one in trouble and not them.
Yesterday morning Kim brought the truck to Midas in Smiths Falls because the truck was pulling to the right and when I looked under the truck I noticed that the tires had chunks of rubber missing from the inside of the tire. These tires are only 6 months. Also at that time we had some front work done which the parts were guarenteed for 1 year. So Kim brings the truck back in case that there is something wrong with the parts that we already replaced.
The mechanic says that the truck needed an alignment. So the alignment gets done and Kim pays the $50 and leaves. She goes to Hanks Tire to get 2 new tires for the front because those ones are done. The guy at Hanks puts it up on the hoist and then calls Kim in and says that the track bar is loose and so are the upper and lower ball joints. She tells him that she just finished getting an alignment done on it and he says "why, that isn't going to solve your problem, you will have to get another one done in about a months time. Also if the ball joints are not replaced soon it will cause further damage to the tie rod ends and possibly the wheel bearings."
So Kim takes the truck back to Midas in Smiths Falls and speaks to the owner John. Says I want my money back because the alginment is not going to resolve the problem. John then says I will refund your money if we misdiagnost the problem. The mechanic puts it up on the hoist and we show him where the problem is and the mechanic says to us. If this was going for a safety, this would NOT pass.
To make a long story short we didn't get our money back put if we take it back to Midas to get the repair work done he will realign the truck for nothing and give us an additional 10% off. The worse part even with all that he is still $350 more than any one else.
The long and short of it is that this.
1) Kim is a female and they took advantage of her. The worse part is she knows more about cars they both do.
2) Both the mechanic (I believe the owner's son) and John the owner are both f^&kin a$$holes.
What ever happen to the days where you could trust your mechanic and the when someone said something to you it was the truth.
I know how I would like to deal with this and I can guarnetee you that they would never do something like that again but I thought this might be the better way to do it.
So basicly if you have to get any work done on your vehicle take it some where else than the Midas in Smiths Falls.
I know that I'm venting but I honestly feel that everyone should know what kind of people are out there.
