Hey Folks,
The Cox family is putting together their annual Nate Cox Charity Tournament for CHEO. It's for a great cause and it's another excuse for us to go fishing again. The information is below. Good times will be had and it's for the kids. If you have time and would like to give back to the community try to make the trip.
I'm posting this on behalf of the Cox Family.
It's time for the 6th Annual Nate Cox Fishing Derby for the Oncology Playroom at CHEO.
Jenny and I will be hosting the event on the 16th of September at Norway Lake. We're looking forward to seeing family and friends who hlpe make this a great day.
Fishing will officially begin at 7am and weigh-in will be at 4 pm. We'll be providing a barbecue dinner after ther fishing (Harvey's burgers, dogs and soft drinks and water). Depending on your arrival time you should bring your own snacks, lunch, etc.
It's a catch and release derby, with prizes being awarded for the best 5 bass (team) and the biggest bass. If your boat doesn't have a livewell, just weigh your fish with a hand held scale (and let it go) and keep track of your totals. We'll calibrate your scale with the official weigh master's so everything is as consistent as possible.
There will be kids' prizes and many exciting doors prizes as well. We ask for a donation of 25 dollard per adult. If you have a large hungry group of children with you, kick in whatever your heard desires. All proceeds go directly to the playroom on the oncology floor at CHEO (4 East). The playroom gets heavy use from some pretty sick kids, so our annual collective contribution goes right to new DVD's, books, games, crafts etc. With your support, we'll be over the $10,000 mark this year. Impressive stuff!
We're always appreciative of donations of prizes that are given out over the course of the day. If we have more thean enough, we'll just save them for next year. T-shirts, mugs and various forms of corporate swag are hot items and we'll be sure to recognize those who donate prizes. If you have a line on some prizes could you e-mail us to let us know?
Thanks!
Getting to the cottage is relatively easy. Head west on the 417 and 10 kilometres past Anrprior, turn left on Highway 508. You'll see a big sign for Calabogie tourist area.
Drive for ten minutes to teh flashing red at Burnstown. Continue straight for 5 kilometres. Just after the Springtown (don't blink) look for a small green Norway Lake sign and turn right on the dirt road. Stay left at any Y's in the road and 5.1 kilometres down this road is 374 Norway Lake Road. That's us! Turn right down the hill and we're on the left at the end
